Buddy joined TFDH in January 2025 and had the odds stacked against him before we knew him. A previous “owner” left him outside, fed him pizza, and called him Fat Baby. Thankfully a neighbor took him to a shelter to get better care and from there we were able to rescue him. However, within minutes of arriving, it was quickly apparent that an obvious illness wasn’t disclosed. We spent the next several weeks fighting what we believed to be a severe case of pneumonia. With help from the team at one of our vet partners and his foster fam we eventually got him to a stable place where he could be adopted. Friends of ours, they followed up with a specialist that confirmed a lower airway condition which ultimately needed to be helped with daily inhaler treatments following many other medications. Unfortunately the lack of prior proper care also led to a heartworm positive result several months into being adopted. Buddy passed away on April 15 due to complications from heartworm treatment.
